Description/achievement of initiative
Access to clean, safe and sustainable energy is critical to reducing poverty and addressing climate change.
The United Kingdom is a strong supporter of SE4ALL, its goal and objectives, providing political and financial support. Under the leadership of the new Government the UK remains committed to SE4ALL.
Implementation methodologies
The UK is pleased to commit new financial resources to SE4ALL’s Global Facilitation Team, to co-ordinate, facilitate and track progress towards Sustainable Energy for All by 2030. UKAID is also enabling a new Green Mini-Grids in Africa programme - which is providing clean, safe energy access to 1m people in Kenya and Tanzania.
Delivering results for girls and women is a UK development priority, with girls and women at the heart of everything the Government does. The UK is supporting work to facilitate the sustainable electrification of health clinics in Sub-Saharan Africa, focusing on energy to improve maternal and neo-natal health and help test sustainable approaches to off-grid clinic electrification.
