Integrated nutrition and food security strategies for children and vulnerable Groups in Viet Nam
Description/achievement of initiative

In Viet Nam, the SDG-F joint programme has been focused on the provices of Lao Cai and Ning Thuan,suffering from extremely high poverty rates. These respectively reach 33.6% and 17.7% against a national average of 10%. The programme will specifically focus on policy and advocacy for globally recommended nutrition policies and standards, development of institutional capacity and systems and evidence generation.

Implementation methodologies

The programme is promoting an integrated nutrition and food security for women and children and vulnerable groups in Viet Nam. It supports the enforcement of policy framework and monitoring system formulated and approved in a previous MDG-F programme.

It targets the most disadvantaged ethnic minorities living in poverty and seeks to reduce their vulnerability. It focuses on supporting the 2 provinces for evidence generation to facilitate national policy changes and scale up of nutrition and food security models.

The total programme budget corresponds to $3.33 million. 45% of it is funded by the SDG-F.
