Description/achievement of initiative
The African Society for Engineering Management (Afrisem) English language proficiency program is intended to help adult and dropout students that need to improve their English knowledge in other to have the ability of going back to school.
Implementation methodologies
The learning plan will include access to self-study materials and short courses, group discussion forums, group assignments,and oral and written English packages.The curriculum is focused on creative, innovative, and systemic knowledge designed to improve quality of education. Centers will be created in secondary schools in agreement with the schools and the members of the community. Lectures will be deployed presently as volunteers from the African Society for Engineering Management members and other relative associations.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
Training of trainers will be coordinated by the African Society for Engineering Management; graduates of the program will join our tutors groups in training others for the benefit of the community. The program is estimating that in the first four years we will have about 12,000 graduate that can be distributed among African countries for training of adults.
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
The program is being handled by the African Society for Engineering Management as coordinator, and headed by the President of the association. There are also volunteer stakeholders and various community associations leaders and community leaders or representatives, youth associations.
