Description/achievement of initiative
This is a sustainable development and innovative project for Africa aimed at providing ecological and sustainable solutions to waterside communities by eliminating water hyacinth in rivers and lakes. Water hyacinth will be used in the production of cooking gel as an alternative to firewood and their dangerous fuels for women in the communities. This gel will be used for a renewable cook stove. Over 80 percent in the rural areas use fire wood. It will reduce CO2 emission in the atmosphere . Reduce Deforestation. Create Organic Fertiliser. Clean the water ways. Create jobs for the populace especially women and improve their health.
Implementation methodologies
The key activities of this project are:
1. Community mobilization
2. Awareness creation/Training
3. Harvest Demonstration
4. Formulation of a community harvesters network.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
Constant Training and Monitoring of the Teams of Women to ensure competence in the skills acquired and compliance. Constant communication and networking activities to encourage them.
