ECO Science Foundation is an intergovernmental organization and a specialized agency of the Economic Cooperation organization (ECO), a ten member states forum (www.eco4science.org). Objectives of the ECOSF are; to promote and fund collaborative research and activities and promote Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) in the member states in order to strengthen the research base. The Sustainable Development Goals represent a unique opportunity for the world to work together on 17 critical measures that embody the collective aspirations of the world’s citizens. For empowering and mobilising youth and accelerating the implementation of sustainable solutions at local and community levels.

a. Idea Development Phase: An app idea is announced during the annual Invention to Innovation Summit on 4-5 May 2016 at Quetta Pakistan. The contestants have to submit their ideas as a concept note online for an App Idea as per objectives of the project. All the ideas will be evaluated and shortlisted and presented to the jury. Shortlisted ideas will be selected for next phase (app development). b. App Development: Selected ideas at Idea Development Stage will be announced for app development. The teams will develop Innovative apps on winning ideas and will be submitted along other necessary attachments online. The first three apps will be given cash prizes.

Education Phase: Education phase is the first stage of the contest and will be carried out throughout the contest. During this phase the University Students will be educated on social concerns related to sustainable development goals as well as for system application development through several webinars workshops and lectures. The effective media campaign and social media pages will play lead role in extending the reach of the contest. Additionally, Technology Times will engage the Campus Correspondents for marketing the contest in the university and ensuring adequate participation. The App`s will be presented in the Annual Invention to Innovation Summit and evaluated by jury of experts which will be constituted by mutual coordination and agreement of the partner organizations.

The AppIdea2R (from app idea to reality) Contest aims to develop software applications for web, personal computer, mobile handheld device, console, SMS, or any software platform broadly available to the public on SDGs related to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The app submitted in the Contest should address at least one of the 17 SDGs, either for awareness creation or to contribute to progress towards meeting the SDGs. The AppIdea2R Contest will be an open opportunity for university students of all the 10 ECO countries viz Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to win prizes as well as become part of an international team to solve the social problems. This activity will help connecting the youth on education for sustainable development, making a roadmap for implementing it in the ECO region.
