Description/achievement of initiative
The Global Academy: Global Goals initiative encourages academics worldwide to showcase their research alongside the relevant SDGs. This raises awareness of the goals in the academic community and provides global data on research contributing to the SDGs. Project data will be visible on the website as a resource for researchers, funders and potential collaborators worldwide as well as national governments and multi-lateral organisations involved in the SDG programme.
Implementation methodologies
Individual researchers and research leaders will be invited, via their universities and other research organisations, to use the Global Academy website to showcase their research and badge their projects with the Global Goals.Data will be made available through partner organisations.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
The Global Academy; Global Goals project will make research communication easier for academics worldwide, thus releasing resources for the core research. By ensuring that participating universities and research leaders consider the SDGs when designing, publicising and reporting on research projects Global Academy profiles will improve communication of academic research impact for a general audience.The data tools developed to report on the research will be shared in partnership with university alliances, research organisations and national research bodies. This will build additional capacity within these groups to measure and report on research progress towards the goals both nationally and by member institutions.
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
The Global Academy: Global Goals initiative will be initially be governed by the board members of its sister organisation, Global Academy Jobs ( GAJobs). The GAJobs board includes an international consortium of Universities alongside investors and HE recruitment experts.
