Description/achievement of initiative
In March 2015 the Kenya Philanthropy Forum was formed to institutionalize a voice for philanthropy in Kenya to coordinate and support the needs of any organization with an interest in philanthropy. KPF formed a sub-group on data to engage in the development and implementation of a collective philanthropy data strategy as well as to close the capacity and knowledge gaps among stakeholders as well as between philanthropy and other sectors. Ultimately, the development of a common data portal will support philanthropies in making informed decisions on effective grantmaking, facilitate more partnerships and showcase the contribution of philanthropy towards national development.
