Combatting illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing
Description/achievement of initiative

The OECD Fisheries Committee (COFI) will update previous OECD work on the key determinants of IUU fishing and collect data on the current regulatory and institutional situation in OECD countries and other countries. This will help identify cost-effective best practices to reduce IUU fishing and provide policy makers with a better understanding of policy alternatives and gaps. The objective is to measure progress in fighting IUU fishing and related economic crimes. This work will also promote transparency and increase awareness of procedures for helping countries collaborate when tackling IUU fishing.
