Sustainability and Development
Description/achievement of initiative

This initiative is dedicated to achieve the following key objectives: - Empower the communities economically and promote livelihoods. - Enhance access and opportunities of education to everyone. - Contribute to peace building and justice to communities. - Create a safe and healthy environment for the vulnerable as per principles of human rights.

Implementation methodologies

In fulfillment of better implementation mechanisms, the initiative has a systematic approach in firstly planning for the project, coordinating with local entities and establishing community committees so as to ensure sustainability and ownership of the project. SDF has strong working relationship at national level with Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, Ministry of Education, Education Office, Civil Registration Authority, and NGOs supporting children with specific needs. They facilitate the inclusion of PoC in many services as well as sharing challenges and coming up with solutions for benefit of refugees and asylum seeker children. SDF seeks to build stronger community mechanism pertain to protection, education and development that can support SDF and its partners and field staff from the host, IDPs and refugee communities that are based in the targeted areas. Specifically, the SDF team would include Yemeni children and community members in protection services (Family Centre) and develop impact messages with them to address immediate protection risks of children. Also, contingency plans are updated regularly according to the update security situation. Meetings and/or some activities will be rescheduled measures. M & E Officer is in charge of monitoring and evaluating the project implementation in respect to finance and management. Last but not least, better projects implementation is achieved by experienced and central staff.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

The initiative comprises of a number of administrative and specialized units which have specific tasks and duties under the leadership of board of trustees and board of management along with an advisory body based on each program. Regarding to such units, it also operates through monitoring and evaluation and finance unit for the better and smooth coordination mechanisms. It also works according to its major objectives which are closely linked to the united nations' sustainable development goals as well as utilizing the donors' objectives. Planning with related units is a mandatory strategy based on the category of program, beneficiary and local community. The initiative is a community centered and development oriented. The initiative always evaluates the projects/activities on the ground to ensure the sustainability and the quality deliverables. Moreover, it conducts regular assessments throughout the cycle of project period in terms of beneficiaries, services, assistance, local community and expected outcomes which result into sustainable livelihood and well-being. At last, the initiative has an M & E Officer who is in charge of monitoring the activities and evaluating the impacts on a regular basis. The initiative builds on the team experiences in order to deliver the overall objectives in response to specific needs. The SDF team work with government entities like local authorities, local councils, Ministry of Education, Education Office, Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, the Secretariat Capital, Civil Registration Authority, Ministry of Interior and other related entities, refugee community leaders, key community actors, private companies and other service providers. To this end, SDF builds appropriate relations and communications with these agencies.
