Evidence-based solutions to Poverty and Homelessness in Kansas
Description/achievement of initiative

The Center for Public Partnerships and Research at the University of Kansas is supporting work to eliminate poverty by generating responsive solutions that improve practice, inform policy, and advance knowledge. The Center supports state agencies to this end by facilitating partnerships and collaboration, research-based program design and implementation, and ongoing evaluation.

January/2019
By January 2019, CCPR will assist the state employment and training agency in using a Collective Impact approach to develop, implement, and test a community-based, trauma-informed, employment and training program that will help 2,000 eligible food assistance recipients across 36 counties in Kansas get the training and individualized support needed to get on the path to sustainable, living wages.
September/2019
CPPR will assist the state and local agencies in providing individualized placement and supported employment services, and other surround services to Persons with Serious Mental illness (SMI) and or substance abuse to help keep these individuals housed and employed. The numbers of individuals served by both of these grants over the project period (October 2014 - September 2019) will be a minimum of 735 individuals with SMI.
