Description/achievement of initiative
The overall goal of this IBC is to improve health and well-being for all at all ages, in the European Region. The coalition of partners will act as a pan-European enabling mechanism to facilitate and to promote the implementation - in the European Region - of the targets of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 and the health-related targets of the other Goals by coordinating the activities of the relevant United Nations funds, programs and specialized agencies and other intergovernmental organizations and partners, with a special focus on leaving no one behind
Implementation methodologies
The IBC, has identified joint areras for action, which do reflect:
areas of joint cooperation;
high urgency and high political importance,
common high burden of diseases or priorities across all countries (addressing the unmet),
populations in particularly vulnerable conditions (addressing those most at need),
existing commitments that ultimately will help to implement the SDGs goals and targets and building on areas with existing cooperation.
Joint activities proposed include:
joint advocacy initiatives,
expertise and thematic rosters,
policy alignment,
sharing of knowledge and position papers,
specific country implementation.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
The workplan contains a large potential for capacity development and technoology transfer, depending on the subject matter of interested,. The IBC includes potentials for working together in a range of health and well-ebing related areas, from child education to health systems strengthening
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
The IBC, runs under the R-UNDG, and is coordinated by the WHO Regional Office for Europe
