Sensitizing and Empowering Ayawaso Communities to Eradicate Poverty in other to Achieve the SDG Goal 1
Description/achievement of initiative

Poverty according to Ghana Living standards survey by Ghana statistical Service is the inability of household to meet its daily nutritional requirements even if it devoted all of its income to consumption. We seek to find the causes and dimensions of poverty at Ayawaso Municipal Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. We have therefore look at some of the policies and initiatives the government has setup to eradicate poverty, and how effective are these initiatives impacting positive changes in the lives of beneficiaries. We also look at some possible programs that can be carried out to reduce poverty.

Implementation methodologies

The Initiative will be carried out in Ayawaso Municipal Assemblies of the greater Accra Region of Ghana. But concentrations will be given more to Ayawaso North and East constituency. We will research on policies, initiatives and programs of the government to alleviate poverty, is it accessible by all, has it reach its target, how effective is the programs and what can be done to improve it. The project will also do case study of Mamobi a community in Ayawaso North to collect and document information about the community to serve as a planning tool for community development in other to eradicate poverty. As at now there is no written history of the community and most of the people who knows the history of Mamobi are few, so we wish to get this done and put it on the internet for people to access it anywhere in the world. The organization will also collaborate with other organizations, corporate and governmental institutions to organize a leadership and entrepreneur development workshop and seminars to build the capacity of the people. We also plan to advocate and lobby this organization to partner our organization to organize skills training's for the youth and also look for a soft loan for them as start-up capitals. And if possible establish Community Youth Entrepreneurship Centre (CYEC) The organization will open itself and also ready to partners other organizations that give free access to their facility or partner to organize free health screening including eye screening and surgery to members of the community who are sick but because they do not have money they stay at home with the sickness or uses local medication that is not good for their health, so that they can use the small money they have for income generation activities.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

The organization will collaborate with financial institutions, corporate bodies, governmental institutions, Local and International NGOs to organize a periodic community leadership and entrepreneur development workshop and seminars to build the capacity of the community to be self-reliance and productive for sustainable development of the individual and the community, people will also be encourage to share knowledge or experience they gain to other. Community Leaders including Municipal Chief Executives, opinion leaders, chiefs, Imams, Pastors, Youth Leaders and Assembly members will be encouraged to take a very active role in achieving the objectives of the initiatives in other to help end poverty in the community and Ghana at large.
