Description/achievement of initiative
PANORAMA Solutions for a Healthy Planet is a partnership initiative to document and promote examples of inspiring, replicable solutions across a range of conservation and sustainable development topics, enabling cross-sectoral learning and inspiration.
PANORAMA allows practitioners to share and reflect on their stories, increase recognition for successful work, and learn together with their peers how similar challenges have been addressed around the globe.
Different thematic communities contribute to PANORAMA. Currently covers the following, interlinked themes: "protected areas"; "marine and coastal"; "ecosystem-based adaptation".
Implementation methodologies
The solution case studies are published on an online platform, broken down into their replicable key modules, or building blocks. The solutions are further promoted by the PANORAMA partners e.g. through publications, social media, newsletters, webinars and workshops, which provide excellent exposure and connect solution providers with potential solution seekers to encourage replication of experiences in other contexts. Solution providers become part of a global network connected to PANORAMA.
PANORAMA is principally open for contributions of solutions by anyone, e.g. government agencies, NGOs, academia or community groups. Each solution is subjected to review before publication.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
The PANORAMA partnership is governed by a steering group, including representatives from all currently 5 partner organizations. The steering group jointly decides on issues of strategic importance, such as new themes to be added. Each theme is coordinated by an organization, unit or consortium. One or several representatives of each entity involved in coordinating a theme becomes part of the steering group.
The partnership coordinators are based in GIZ and IUCN, and fulfill a secretariat function. GIZ and IUCN thus lead and coordinate the initiative, and have a longer-term institutional commitment to maintaining them.
