Description/achievement of initiative
The Institute is specialised in the practice of Industrial Ecology, aiming to study and understand the industrial metabolism of economic activities by adopting a systemic approach. It promotes research and innovation in order to transform the current industrial system into a viable and long term one, both in industrialised and developing countries.
For example, the Industrial ecology platform project consists in creating a web site allowing different Industrial Ecology stakeholders to get connected and exchange more easily. It will gather publications relative to Industrial Ecology within a digital library. Finally, there is an objective of raising awareness among the public.
Implementation methodologies
The Institute constitutes a space of reflexion, research and implementation allowing for a dialogue between scientists, engineers, politicians, investors, firms and the academic field. In that sense, the added value is to transform the existing disparate relations between actors of Industrial Ecology into a functional network.
In practice, the Institutes activities are organised around 3 interdependent and complementary poles (Academic Research; Expertise, Engineering and Project management; Financing solutions).
