Description/achievement of initiative

The objectives of this scheme include the following among others;- 1) To determine the perceived role of women in the attainment of the SDGs through a study; 2) To design and execute a professional leadership course in education for sustainable development rights which will equip teachers and teaching assistants with education tools in both formal, non-formal & informal education to help whole communities attain sustainable development; 3) Some informal groups identified to benefit include PTA mothers; 4) Establish an internet network, a conference & exhibition of education institutions involved in education for sustainable development rights.

Implementation methodologies

the method for implementation will be a test run method. the study has already started as a mixed methods study on assessing the perceived role of women in impacting positively the attainment of the sustainable development goals under the concept and guidelines of education for sustainable development rights, in south east Nigeria represented by the alvan Ikoku federal college of education. the idea is to find out the gender based learning of the different SDGs attainment. this will help in the design of the curriculum for the professional leadership course and the strategy for getting the families of the PTA mothers to attain the SDGs. The 1: 5 ratio of classroom and field work times will provide the participants the ability to perfect their skills on the ground. the curriculum will generally cover most of the SDGs with practical lifestyle implementation formats. even though some emphasis will be on the structured formal education, a large part of the emphasis will be on co-curricular options. Non-formal and informal education methods will be also adopted. The annual international conference, exhibition fair, and the internet communication platform will serve as channels of, evaluation, information and experience sharing.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

The project is being jointly coordinated by the gender department of the alvan ikoku federal college of education, the first lady's save our youths campaign and the codsacoe- committee of deans of students affairs of colleges of education at the NCCE - national commission of colleges of education in a project committee. The project center will be at the alvan ikoku federal college of education, owerri. the supervising organization will be the codsacoe- committee of deans of student affairs of colleges of education at the ncce- national commission of colleges of education, Abuja. the project NGO experts are the first lady's save our youths campaign along with several of their specialized NGO organizations such as the Jonathan Chogm golden jubilee ambassadors scheme and the kamche chogm college of nneoha teacher, youth & family mdlr fellows .
