Youth4South Video Contest
Description/achievement of initiative

We are launching the very first global Youth 4 South Video Contest to promote the involvement of Youth in South-South Cooperation and their role in achieving the 2030 Agenda. For the purposes of highlighting South-South and Triangular Cooperation, the winning video solutions will be awarded up to US$ 5000 worth of funds. *All funds will be used to recreate the development solutions in other locations. Seven shortlisted videos will be broadcasted and the winners will be announced during the Global South-South Development EXPO (GSSD Expo) this November.

Implementation methodologies

Who Can Enter? Young people and/or representatives from a youth-led organization from a developing country, working in one or multiple sectors of development. What to include in the video? The solution showcased in the video must meet the following requirements: Maximum duration of under 100 seconds. Address at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals Demonstrate and explain a solution that has a real impact Proven results indicating that the solution can be replicated in other countries Innovative Cost-efficient Scalable No limits to number of solutions per person/organisation The videos should be in English and/or with English subtitles

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

How do young people working in development enter? Download the Solution Profile Template, fill it out, and then upload it in the entry form below The Youtube video should use the hashtag #youth4south in the description. In case you face problems with uploading, please send an email to Alyssa for assistance; The video with the highest votes on this site will determine the seven shortlisted candidates, and the committee will determine the winner; Deadline: Your video entries and votes must be received by 5:00 p.m. November 10, 2017 (New-York time). Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Contest South-South and Triangular Cooperation is a great way for countries to work together in sharing their development solutions with each other. If you are young and/or represent a youth-led organization from a developing country, and interested to make a South-South developmental impact around the world, we invite young people to produce a short film about an existing development solution in their developing country that can be recreated in countries of the Global South. Award All relevant solutions submitted for the contest in addition to the shortlisted ones will be promoted globally through the UNDP and United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation networks and the websites. We will help to find potential funding partners to replicate your solution to other Southern countries. Seven shortlisted videos will be broadcasted and winners will be announced during the Global South-South Development EXPO (GSSD Expo) 2017 as well as during the month after the GSSD Expo 2017 on the website of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation. For the purposes of highlighting South-South and Triangular Cooperation, the winning solutions will be awarded the following: First place: Funds valued up to US$ 5000 Second place: Funds valued up to US$ 2000 Third place: Funds valued up to US$ 1000 *All funds will be used to recreate the development solutions in other locations.
