Operationalizing the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth
Description/achievement of initiative

The overall objective is to support the operationalization of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, the overarching platform for the promotion of youth employment in support of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The commitment focuses on expanding the strategic multi-stakeholder alliance of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth, scaling up action at country and regional levels, and promoting knowledge about what works and how to improve labour market outcomes of youth. The project is implemented through a collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Social Security, Spain, and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Implementation methodologies

The collaboration between the Ministry of Labour, Migration and Social Security, Spain, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) aims to support the operationalization of the Global Initiative on Decent Jobs for Youth. The collaboration focuses on four strategic elements of Decent Jobs for Youth: (i) building a strategic alliance, (ii) scaling up action and impact, (iii) sharing and applying knowledge, and (iv) mobilizing resources. In this context, the project supports the strategic multi-stakeholder alliance by initiating consultations and convening key youth employment stakeholders; by initiating concrete action at country level, based on the thematic priorities; by developing and operationalizing the knowledge facility; and by exploring linkages to funds and financing opportunities in support of country level work on youth employment.
