Description/achievement of initiative
Our vision is to bring sustainable solutions to emergencies. We act in line with the UNSDGs focusing on SDG 3, 4, 7, 13 and 17. We are planning, implementation and overseeing an innovative facility in the Zarqa region of Jordan. Our goal is to empower, rehabilitate people and to build resilience among the most vulnerable communities. The project is doing that by improving the living conditions of people, providing primary and secondary education to children, improving healthcare services and implementing a charging and water purification system supplied by solar energy sources making the facility self-sustainable, self-sufficient and reduce the carbon footprint of the camp.
Implementation methodologies
The project is aiming to create a role model for a solution that can be easily and cost efficiently re-implemented in cases of massive displacement of populations. The goal is to bring higher access to education, healthcare and renewable energy into the Emirati Jordanian Refugee Camp in Jordan to keep up with the continuous expansion of the camp. The project addresses the lack of education in emergencies, improves healthcare services locally and provide green energy in accordance with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It is doing by constructing the facilities such as classrooms, examination rooms and by implementing a greenhouse and solar panels that will aliment a charging centre and a water purification system. Therefore, this project is setting up new and innovative methods, a self-sufficient and environmentally sustainable centre for refugee camps with multiple functions. The centre will be constructed of mobile, flexible, easily rebuildable, time and cost efficient elements of shipping containers.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
Once the project is implemented can be upgraded and continuously expanded flexibly, according to the needs and the number of users of services provided by the facility. The technology can be equally decomposed and transported to another place at any time to be set up cost, time and material efficiently. It can be equally duplicated and applied in various places simultaneously.
