Description/achievement of initiative

This is an Initiative of capacity building and empowering with the awareness, knowledge and attitude change of specifically youth Leaders in SDG Youth Network of Sri Lanka about SDG'S particularly focused on Goal No 7 and transfer the message to all segments of the society. Motivating Youth Leaders to serve as " Renewable Energy Youth Messengers" accordingly be Change Makers by transferring the knowledge about Goal No 7 via messages, activities, mobilizations and all other possible ways. Creating a process and strong platform to youth to be part of the achievement of SDG Goal No 7

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Sri Lanka having 9 Provinces, 25 Districts and 334 Divisional Secretariat Areas as the Government Ecumenism of administration apart from the Presidential Secretariat, Parliament, 9 Provincial Councils and about 350 local government Bodies. Sustainable Development Goals Youth Network of Sri Lanka (SDGYNSL) created by the" Sri Lanka United Nations Friendship Organisation "(SUNFO) by appointing Chief Divisional Coordinators in all 3334 Divisional Secretariat Areas and after that commissioning SDG Youth Councils with another fellow 20 Youth Leaders (Age 18-27 years of age) in D.S.Areas. In this partnership the "Academy of Engineering and Green Technologies (AFGT) " with "JLanka Technologies (Pvt) Ltd" (The Solar Electricity Company which is a pioneering establishment for supply, installation and maintenance of Solar PV Net Metering Systems in Sri Lanka since 2011.and now considered as the Market Leaders in the field of renewable Energy in Sri Lank are hosting " Sustainable Energy for all" Educational Workshops for Youth Leaders in SDGYNSL. These workshops are conducting in District level and finally expected to be trained and appoint 7000 Youth Leaders as " Renewable Energy Youth Messenger". The first such District Workshop was conducted on Feb 18, 2018 in Nuwareliya District and will follow in other Districts in coming months. Further Special Training and continuing education for selected Youth Leaders in National Level.
