Description/achievement of initiative
Mission: To release the full potential of individuals, especially women and girls, by contributing to end stigma and barriers to safe sanitation and hygiene.
The objectives reflect the Human Life Course, reviewing well-being by measuring privacy, safety, dignity, privacy, mobility, learning outcomes, productivity, etc linked to sanitation and hygiene. These are:
1) Breaking the Silence (evidence-based advocacy, education and awareness to combat stigma, discrimination, myths, stereotypes around biological processes (e.g. menstruation)
2) Managing needs Safely & Hygienically (technical expertise, capacity building, training)
3) Environmentally Safe Disposal (innovations and local, context-specific solutions)
4) Inter-organizational learning (sharing best practice, strengths between partners)

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
The partnership is managed solely by the two organizations, and strategic decisions are agreed by the Senior Vice President, Sustainability for Essity and the Programme Director for WSSCC, in line with the strategic plans for both parties. At the operational level, work is undertaken by several colleagues on both sides, in line with the nature of the task. Media and Public Affairs officers from both organizations are regularly involved in partnership activities. The operational focal point is the Vice President, Public Affairs for Essity, and the Acting Head, Partnerships for WSSCC.
