Description/achievement of initiative

Provide technical support to the humanitarian sector in disaster response.

Implementation methodologies

Meetings occur monthly where updates on training and information sharing are discussed along with a programme of engagement and development.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

We are part of the Global Alliance for Urban Crises (GAUC). We feed directly into their working groups, share information and are part of the GAUC roster system.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

A steering group made up of representatives of the member organisations.

Goal 11
11.5 - By 2030, significantly reduce the number of deaths and the number of people affected and substantially decrease the direct economic losses relative to global gross domestic product caused by disasters, including water-related disasters, with a focus on protecting the poor and people in vulnerable situations
11.b - By 2020, substantially increase the number of cities and human settlements adopting and implementing integrated policies and plans towards inclusion, resource efficiency, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, resilience to disasters, and develop and implement, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, holistic disaster risk management at all levels

Production of the Structural Annex to The IOM Mass Evacuation in Natural Disasters (MEND) guide. Note: the MEND guide is yet to be issued but the annex is complete in its raw form.
