Halley Movement & PAN-Mauritius Coalition
Description/achievement of initiative

Our Coalition which is the platform of civil society organisations with a multi stakeholder partnership has been involved in taking forward community advocacy for the sustainable goals in Mauritius. The main focus have been education to marginalised children, eradicating poverty through capacity building of parents and ‘Home Stay’ mothers, building skills for young people at looking positively towards the Internet and creating awareness among families on climate change. Our NGO platform is partnering, since 2015 with GCAP and other regional and international partners to undertake and disseminate best SDG practices in the region.Halley Movement also strives to hold our State accountable in taking the SDGs successfully forward by submitting alternative/ shadow reports to the Human Rights Council and to the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERCW).

Implementation methodologies

1. Through meetings with targeted population 2. Follow up of cases reported at Helpline Mauritius 3. Feedback and way forward with our International partners, such as GCAP, ECPAT International, etc

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Capacity buildings have been conducted and will be an ongoing feature with targeted groups, such as home stay mothers, difficult to reach population, marginalised children etc

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

1. Advocacy Workshops in Mauritius 2. Data Collection from Stakeholders in our Coalition 3. Counselling through the web. Helpline Mauritius, www.helplinemauritius.org, is assisting the population on the related issues. 4. Regular monitoring with non state actors.
