Sverdlovsk Smart Region
Description/achievement of initiative

Transnational Innovations and the Boris Yeltsin Presidential Centre have developed a strategy to form the foundation for a transformational roadmap for sustainable technology transformation in Russia, including the development of a Smart Region strategy. The strategy is closely aligned with the SDGs and has culminated in Sverdlovsk Region formally aligning it's Smart Region strategy with the UN Goals. The strategy includes improvements in city safety, through to more effective provision of health and education. The long-term strategy and plan for outlay will enable Ural Federal Region to take on the mantle of Smart Region by 2025.

Implementation methodologies

- Definition of Smart Region Roadmap, aligned with Regional priorities and UN sustainability goals - Clear and measurable KPIs and timelines for agreed goals and priorities - Partnership strategy and implementation (Technology Partners, Universities, System Integrators and Government authorities) - Global workgroups to support project (expected to have teams in Russia, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Germany) - Weekly and monthly reporting on achievements, next steps and key risks

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

The partnership approach for the delivery of the Smart Region programme includes a wide ranging of associated projects being undertaken in tandem to support the implementation at a local level, along with being integrated into regional policy.
