Water Utility Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment
Description/achievement of initiative

The objective of this consultancy is the development of a Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment (CRVA) for three of BWS’s systems; formulate an Adaptation Plan of Action responding to the vulnerabilities identified; and build the necessary capacity within BWS to conduct CRVA of their remaining systems.

Implementation methodologies

The project is being implemented through consultancy services, which was had via International Competitive Bidding (ICB). The Canadian consulting firm of Dillon Consulting Limited is the firm providing the services.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

BWS’s RCE and technical staff are responsible to provide data, initiate and respond to queries, review, provide comments on all design works and accept same. Additionally this consultancy allows for BWS’s staff and external stakeholders to actively partake in the development of the Adaptation Plan. Ensure that the Terms of Reference (TOR) are satisfied. The process facilitates capacity building and technology transfer.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

The project is being funded via a Grant to the GOB/BWS from the CDB, and the Project Manager is BWS’s RCE. Several Senior Project Officers from CDB and the European Investment Bank (EIB) are supervising the project implementation.
