Description/achievement of initiative
Expansion of programmes undertaken under the YCT to San Ignacio/Santa Elena in the Cayo District and Dangriga Town in the Stann Creek District. These as well as the new programmes aim to reduce the vulnerability and social exclusion of children, youth and their families in the target areas.
Implementation methodologies
The Youth RISE Project Implementation Unit oversees the day to day implementation activities. The project partners with various agencies, namely the Community Policing Unit, Cornerstone Foundation, Dept of Youth Services, Community Rehabilitation Department, St. Ignatius High School, Delille Acadey, POWA, BFLA, for the implementation of the various programs. The procurement of all services and goods are done through the PIU and given to the agencies for them to implement the programs. The YCT Project Coordinator manages two Assistant Project Coordinators who are located in each district. Each APC coordinate and liaise with the various participating agencies for the implementation of the programs.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
The project unit has conducted several trainings with the participating agencies in Life Skills Group Facilitation, the use of FAMCare - online data base tool used for case management and monitoring and evaluation. These training were completed to ensure proper implementation of particular programs and to enhance reporting and documentation.
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
This project is governed by a Project Steering Committee comprised of representatives from various line Ministries and National Committee for Families and Children, Delille Academy and St Ignatius High School. In addition, there is a Project Operations Manual that was developed which outlines project guidelines and expectations.
