Carbon Zero Initiative of Trinidad & Tobago
Description/achievement of initiative

We are extremely passionate about what we are doing and believe that we are well on the way to success here in Trinidad and Tobago. We simply ask that you please review our message and advise if we can collaborate to get the message out and actually see citizens and countries coming together to walk the walk towards a better, greener carbon zero environment.

Implementation methodologies

We are also involved in waste water treatment and have achieved a better than 98% success in the pilot projects, and now looking at treating Leachate in our landfills and effluent in one of our largest distilleries in the Caribbean and seek to make them the first totally carbon neutral company in the region. We also have an ongoing project known as the “1,000 tree challenge” using the Moringa tree as our chosen tree due to its greater carbon absorption and the downstream healthy benefits that we are hoping to undertake in partnership with the Indian High Commission of Trinidad and Tobago. We are further engaged in discussions with the Indian High Commission of Trinidad and Tobago to collaborate by bringing Solar Panel technology to 10 schools in Tobago and the Commissioner has agreed to also bring in the machinery to harvest and process the leaves of our Moringa trees.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Carbon Zero Initiative of Trinidad and Tobago (CZITT) is seeking collaboration – information and experience exchange – technologies etc., with like – minded corporate organizations or other NGOs, in our attempt to not only promote awareness but to effectively create sustainable action against the further damage to our beautiful planet earth.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

CZITT is currently in the process of preparing for their first of an annual Climate Change Awareness Quiz which is planned to be aired on national television in January, 2019. We have assessed and registered 131 Secondary schools (more than 60,000 students) to participate in the quiz.
