Nigerian Timber Legality Data
Description/achievement of initiative

Launching a platform that will see to the collection of legitimately harvested timber in Nigeria. This will help decipher how to mange and sustain timber. It will promote legal logging. It will also help to know what timber is endangered and the ones that are lesser specie. It is a huge step towards sustainable forest management.

Implementation methodologies

Registered timber on the platform will be issued a tracking code that will cover the timber information for a year. The tracking code will be like a form of license which will determine the legality of the registered timber.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

More people will be train and legal logging will be encourage. Remote location with no access to internet will have a trained personnel that will be responsible for data collection.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Legitimately harvested timber to be registered on: http://www.nigeriantimberdata.info The harvester must have paid all necessary dues to register harvested on the platform. State Revenue, Hammering Fee, Afforestation fee and Local Government revenue. The invoice number will be provided alongside the information needed to register the timber on the platform.
