Heritage Impact - Community Investment Program
Description/achievement of initiative

Heritage Impact is a community investment program designed to seek impact investment to preserve intangible heritage in Africa through small, medium and social enterprises specialised in manufacturing local goods that represent the culture and heritage of local communities. Through this program a local brand will be designed according to the country/city of target to promote the manufactured products, telling the story of the producers highlighting the human aspect.

Implementation methodologies

Heritage Impact, as a community investment program, will invest in production lines that will carry the brand identity "Heritage". The products of this brand are local traditional goods that promote and preserves culture and intangible heritage. The products will be manufactured in remote, undeserved and rural areas by youth, women and local artisans. The program will select entrepreneurs, SMEs and social enterprises to co-design and co-create the product lines. Each product will tell a story that reflects the human aspect to promote the intangible heritage of the local communities. The brand "Heritage" will have a global identity in labelling, packaging and exhibiting to create brand visibility and loyalty and have positive impact on the communities. The product will ensure the visibility of the designer/creator. Heritage will create marketing channels to increase sales and ensure decent income to the manufacturers. Heritage will build a brand to raise awareness on the value of intangible heritage and encourage communities to utilise their resources for income generation.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Outreach Holland will ensure partnerships and collaborations with developed countries to transfer knowledge, technology and know-how to the developing countries that will be part of "Heritage". Capacity Building and Technology Transfer will be in areas such as product development, product design, product improvement and manufacturing.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

Outreach Holland is the managing partner, and Outreach Egypt is the implementing partner. The two entities will partner with private sector, civil society, and governmental bodies that work to promote economic instruments.
