Urban Data Platform
Introduction

The Urban Data Platform is a joint initiative of REGIO and JRC to provide knowledge on the status and trends of European Urban Areas.
About 60 indicators are available for about 800 urban areas, following different level of aggregation (Cities, Metro-Region, and Functional Urban Areas)

Objective of the practice

Integration of environmental, social, economic indicators.
Open platform for the visualisation and dissemination of indicators. Urban areas can be compared and benchmarked.

Results/Outputs/Impacts

Indicators have been made available to European authorities and local stakeholders. Results are: the report on the State of the European Cities and other analytical documents at European level.

Enabling factors and constraints

Open and free platform. Comparability.

Sustainability and replicability

The Urban Data Platform could be replicated in e.g. the Mediterranean area or Africa.

Conclusions

Availability of data ad indicators for the monitoring of urban areas vs. the achievement of SDG goals.
