Description/achievement of initiative

UNIAPAC International and its 15 national associations in Africa will be committed over the next two years towards the promotion of decent jobs for youth. The first two events will take place in Cape Verde and Senegal.

Implementation methodologies

UNIAPAC International and its 15 national associations in Africa will be committed over the next two years towards the promotion of decent jobs for youth. The main actions will aim to raise awareness of business leaders on this crucial issue. The commitment includes the organization of multiple seminars, sharing of best practices and the organization of an international congress during which the topic of decent jobs for youth will be a cornerstone. By targeting business leaders, the ones directly hiring employees, UNIAPAC hopes to generate an indirect impact on decent jobs for youth.   The objective is to reach out to 2000 business leaders in Africa and raise awareness on the topic of decent jobs for youth through 16 Uniapac business leaders assocations. The dissemination is done through different tools and initiatives, such as: Local events to raise awareness on decent job creation for youth (an event was organized in April 2018 in Addis-Abeba with the African Union) Creation of an organization "Young African UNIAPAC leaders" Training programs for business leaders, with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility Mentoring; and business creation Promoting best practices of inclusive businesses through a regional prize. The first competition was organized in November 2018. Supporting sustainable investments to support local economic development and thus contribute to sustainable human development. Editing and promoting a book on leadership and entrepreneurship and the future of work.
