Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
Patiala Foundation initiated a Road Safety Project “SADAK” (UN-SDG 3 & 11).We started with interacting with the community members and sensitizing them towards Road Safety by taking Road Safety Talks in seperate modules for Children,Teens,Youth,Parents and Senior Citizens Once we initiated we realised that we should measure and evaluate the shortcomings so started doing Road safety Audits of the city to access Road Safety Awareness and shortfalls(Government side,Community side and Traffic police side and all other stakeHolders etc.) thereafter we realised that very less is being done with the BiCycle riders as most of them who are on road are form marginalised society and use Bicycle to go for work and otherwise even during late hours of the day and are more at Risk so we at Patiala Foundation under our Project SADAK started to distribute and fix Refelective Stickers on Bicycles of all these beneficaries and covering Hotel staff,Labour,Village School children etc. Nothing can be achieved if we do not incentivise or appreciate all those community members who adhere to Road Safety and are road safety concious hence we introduced #BeingPatialvi Sticker for Road Safety Responsible Citizens in association with the local administration. To evaluate and monitor our progress we introduced specially designed Children Challan Book to be distributed amongst students for Challaning their Parents Guardians who do not adhere to Road safety and then sending them a letter of concern regarding the same. The project of monitoring was started with 4th and 5th Standard students and we evaluate it over three months period. We have organised a four month long Public Exhibition on the issues related to Road Safety and Air pollution and showcasing it at different places and collecting feedback from residents to be used for further improvements iin the Road Infrastructure and Air pollution in accordance with the aim of UN SDG till 2030.
