Passport to Employment: promoting the talent of Young People with Disabilities in Spain.
Description/achievement of initiative

Fundación ONCE believes the best way to reach social inclusion is through training and employment. Young people with disabilities are a source of talent and since 2016 Fundación ONCE is developing several projects in alliance with the European Union, particularly with the European Social Fund (ESF), Universities, Companies and the rest of entities representing people with disabilities. The overall objective of the commitment is to share with the rest of partners of the Decent Jobs for Youth Initiative these best practices.The period of the Commitment will last until 2023.The main sources of financing are ESF and Fundacion ONCE own means.

Implementation methodologies

The Commitment will carry out by sharing several projects developed by Fundación ONCE, for example: Uno a Uno (One to One initiative), which aims at financing training projects to improve the employability of young people with disabilities (16-30 years old), focused on a tailored made attention, including a training specialisation. The projects consist of theoretical training activities (min. 160 hours) and practical training (min. 100 hours) in a collaborating company.   Univer-Di project, which main goal is to help Universities developing training programmes for inclusion and employment of young persons with intellectual disabilities. Moreover, to offer a personalized training in order to achieve that they fully exercise their right to participate in their communities, as well as to give them the opportunity to gain necessary skills in order to increase their possibilities of employment. In addition, to contribute in creating inclusive environment based on good experiences within the University community. The Commitment is governed by the Fundación ONCE´s European Affairs Unit , as coordinator of all the projects co-funded by the ESF. The commitment is sustainable as the co-funding is granted until 2023, and it is stands in a public-private partnership between the EU, the Spanish Ministry of Labour, Migrations and Social Security, Fundacion ONCE, the entities of the disability movement, universities, companies and ILO. The Commitment will contribute to SDG 4 and 8 and will give sense and coverage action devoted to decent jobs for youth with disabilities.
