Description/achievement of initiative
The Association of Waterways Ambassadors of Nigeria Is a Non Governmental Organization and Non Profit Organization with aims and objectives including but not limited to the following:To promote and support the use, conservation, maintenance and recreation in the waterways in Nigeria. To raise awareness of the benefit of using waterways for a wider range of activities. To improve and promote inland water transport, cruising, towpath walking, power supply as well as appreciation of waterways architectural and landscape values.To collaborate with the government and other organizations whose aims and objective involves the development and management of waterways in Nigeria.

AWAN carries out its initiatives through Awareness Campaign, Seminars, Education Conferences, Self Volunteers, Partnerships/Collaborations.

The Association Of Waterways Ambassadors Of Nigeria is Governed by the Board of Trustees and Board of Governing Council lead by the National President, General Secretary, Regional Coordinators, States Coordinators, Local coordinators.
