UNTGG China Gender Facility administered by UN Women China: Enhancing Women's Role in Wildlife Protection and Promoting Gender Equality in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China
Description/achievement of initiative

UN Women, through the project, will support municipal governments to take measures to encourage women and men's equal participation and leadership in wildlife protection in Zhuhai, so that women and men play equally important roles in the protection of wild animals at risk of extinction in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province.

Implementation methodologies

A research study will be conducted to ascertain the nature of, and barriers to, women's participation and leadership in wildlife or environmental protection organizations and activities in Zhuhai. The findings of the research study will be used for training to and advocacy for governmental officials. Training will be provided to about 50 members of wildlife or environmental protection organizations in Zhuhai, so that the capability of incorporating gender perspectives into daily work among the personnel of wildlife or environmental protection organizations will be improved. An advocacy conference will be organized to share the project research findings and advocate for attention to gender equality in wildlife protection efforts to which relevant municipal government officials, the media, and other related institutions.
