Description/achievement of initiative

By 2020 we will enhance the livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of people as we grow our business.

Implementation methodologies

Unilever's future success depends upon being able to decouple our growth from our environmental footprint, while at the same time increasing our positive social impacts. Meeting these targets is therefore at the heart of our growth strategy, and success will require engagement and effort across all parts of the business.

Our commitment to enhancing livelihoods is also supported by our target on sustainable sourcing (please see our commitment to reducing environmental impact).


We are working with other organisations, such as the Consumer Goods Forum, the World Economic Forum, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, NGOs and governments, to drive concerted, cross-sector change.
