WIPO GREEN
Description/achievement of initiative

WIPO GREEN is an interactive marketplace that promotes innovation and diffusion of green technologies by promoting skill and technology sharing. WIPO GREEN consists of an online database and network that brings together a wide range of players in the green technology innovation value chain, and connects owners of new technologies with individuals or companies looking to commercialize, license or otherwise access or distribute a green technology. SIDS will benefit from technological innovation in the areas of clean energy, energy efficiency, waste water treatment and sustainable agriculture offered by a range of technology providers via WIPO GREEN.

Implementation methodologies

The WIPO GREEN Database allows you to search green technology products, services and intellectual property assets, as well as post an announcement of a need. Anyone with a green technology can apply to add their technology to the database and the searches are open to all.The WIPO GREEN network helps facilitate commercial relationships and transactions by connecting green technology providers and seekers, and acts as a gateway to a range of useful services.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure

WIPO GREEN is governed by the Advisory Board and the WIPO Secretariat.The WIPO GREEN Advisory Board comprises of partners and the WIPO Secretariat and guides the activities of WIPO GREEN. in cooperation and collaboration with members, the WIPO GREEN Secretariat ensures the day-to-day functioning of WIPO GREEN. This includes a range of activities from managing the WIPO GREEN Database and Network, to developing support and training initiatives, promoting information/knowledge-sharing, forging links to similar networks, and much more.
