Description/achievement of initiative
The network enables effective knowledge sharing and advocacy on the practical application of Integrated Water Resources Management approaches to address key water resource, catchment and coastal management challenges in Pacific Island Countries
Implementation methodologies
The network is achieved through the facilitation of collaborative approaches, capacity building and knowledge sharing through GEF-funded IWRM programme, including through SPC’s regional water and sanitation resource centre and the web sites pacificwater.org and pacific-iwrm.org.
Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer
- structured training activities for country project managers in all partner countries- annual knowledge sharing sessions brining together partners alongside project regional steering committee meetings - fully funded postgraduate course to be developed and made available to representatives from partner countries- knowledge product sharing through regional resource centre (pacificwater.org) and dedicated ridge-to-reef websiteStart Date: 2009Date of Completion: on going
Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
The partnership is an ongoing practical network facilitated by SPC with the support of the Global Environment Facility and development partners.
