Description/achievement of initiative
The Government of Chile, together with trilateral partners GIZ and USAID, is initiating two new projects to support youth employability in the Dominican Republic. From 2007 through 2013, AGCI and GIZ successfully implemented two previous projects in this area with the Dominican Republic, and the two new projects will build on these previous experiences.In the case of the new trilateral project with GIZ, it will focus on diversifying access to microcredit, strengthening young people“s skills for entrepreneurship, and preparing the formalization of these entrepreneurial activities, in coordination with local government (municipalities). In the case of the trilateral project with USAID, which will be part of a broader initiative supported by USAID and implemented by ENTRENA called "Alerta Joven" or "Youth Alert," it will provide techinical vocational training and life skills training to Dominican youth in 2 municipalities and will support the design of business plans for entrepreneurships. It will incorporate a train the trainer methodology, based on the successes of the aforementioned projects.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
Both projects will establish governing committees to oversee the overall coordination of the projects, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of results.
