Description/achievement of initiative
CEMDES believes companies can help with the fulfillment of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by going about their business but with a larger and human vision - it is preferable to sell health that a bunch of soaps, for example. The time has come to crystallize the SDGs into business’ growth strategies. CEMDES will help this change of patterns and also give some ideas and methodologies.
Implementation methodologies
CEMDES will share with its members information and knowledge about the SDGs that companies could apply to their business, and also the members of the Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil. Companies submit to an online evaluation first, then are audited by CEMDES using methodologies such as inclusive business, measuring economic and social impacts by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, and Valuing Natural Capital. Each November, companies who demonstrate that their product, services, and way of doing business are in accordance with the SDGs will be featured in an online report. On October 22, 2015, CEMDES will organize an informational event named Dialogue with Sustainable Leaders, which will be held in Guayaquil.
