GIRLS! Project
Description/achievement of initiative

Schools Without Borders mission is to empower girls in marginalized communities affected by trauma through educational support at various ecological levels (crime, poverty, health disparities). The GIRLS! Project promotes healing through educational support. The project utilizes a public health approach to reduce social determinants of health that often accompany trauma. New printed and Braille books that meet common core standards and writing workshops are provided to girls in urban and rural communities. The project is inclusive of hearing impaired, visually impaired, and girls orphaned by Ebola.

Implementation methodologies

Through the use of network partners to serve girls locally and internationally. Safeguards are in place to ensure delivery of books to girls for their intended purpose. Braille books and research based reading workshops are provided. GIRLS! Project's efforts provide differentiated reading instruction to focus on the specific needs and progress of targeted girls. GIRLS! Project will be implemented through listed partners in Guinea and Liberia.
