Early Childhood Development Online Community
Description/achievement of initiative

The Early Childhood Development Online Community holds more than 2,300 documents on early childhood development organized in 35 thematic folders available for anyone to read.

Implementation methodologies

Although the initiative is primarily supported by social networks (i.e., Facebook and Twitter), it is enhanced with recurring offerings of courses, talks, and printed documents. Currently, the community is organizing a race “from here to the moon” (i.e., 384,000 km) to raise awareness on the importance of early childhood development https://goo.gl/hghXEG. Anyone can participate by running in any race and “donating” the distance they run, as the community enlists sponsors to donate resources that will be used to create spaces for reading and playing in community libraries and NGOs.

Arrangements for Capacity-Building and Technology Transfer

Thanks to Facebook and Twitter, the community enjoys worldwide and unrestricted outreach capabilities. Currently it has over 8,700 followers, and some of its publications have been seen more than 20,000 times.
