Description/achievement of initiative
The Legislators’ Forum for the Sustainable Development Goals (LF - SDGs) is a partnership of national and local parliamentarians who, with the support of other actors, will work together to promote and support India’s national and local governments’ efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals.
Implementation methodologies
Along with members of parliament (MPs) and in partnership with other civil society organizations (CSOs), CLRA initiated the Parliamentarians Group for MDGs in India in 2009. Now, in the recent meeting of MPs, it has been decided to transform PG-MDGs into LF-SDGs, which includes local legislators as well.LF-SDGs is a unique initiative in the world, where CSOs collaborate with active MPs/legislators to to promote and support the government/s to achieve the SDGs’ targets. CLRA and IPG, in close coordination with other partners, will identify priority areas and implement activities.

Coordination mechanisms/governance structure
CLRA, over a period of time, and with its unique expertise to engage legislators and make them champions of development issues, created a body of advisors that includes MPs and CSOs and other experts to guide and effectively implement its programmes.
