Achievement at a glance
Since its political launch in September 2015, the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data has gathered more than 150 data champions from around the world to harness the data revolution for sustainable development. It is supporting national workshops in Colombia, Kenya and the Philippines that will create sustainable development data revolution roadmaps and is compiling a toolbox for countries to support such roadmaps. The Partnership has also been mapping sustainable development data investment opportunities, collaboratives, principles and standards, and is working to keep data high on the political agenda at key events, including the Asia-Pacific Sustainable Development Forum.
Challenges faced in implementation
Next steps
The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data will work to keep data on the political agenda internationally as well as at national and sub-national levels. To that end, it plans to engage government leaders, UN and statistics communities as well as other actors in civil society and the private sector through a variety of activities and events around the world. The Global Partnership will continue to assist countries in their creation of national roadmaps to harness the data revolution for sustainable development. It will support workshops in Sierra Leone, Tanzania and other countries in the second half of 2016. GPSDD will work with partners to augment and improve its toolbox to support country-led SDG data roadmaps. It is also working toward the creation of a marketplace for data and SDG stakeholders to signal needs and connect with new partners to collaborate, innovate and drive impact. The Global Partnership and its members will explore ways to stimulate investment in data and statistics at national and international levels. Conversations are ongoing with the High Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building and other actors about ways to support the World Data Forum, Open SDG Engagement Platform and other #data4SDGs initiatives.

Actions
The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data helps to strengthen data ecosystems by supporting countries to develop and implement roadmaps for harnessing the data revolution for development, compiling a toolbox for countries to support such roadmaps, and taking steps to create a marketplace for data and SDG stakeholders to signal needs and connect with new partners to collaborate, innovate and drive impact. The Global Partnership engages in global meetings on statistics, data, the SDGs and sustainable development to spur innovation and collaboration among various data communities, and it mobilizes collective action through global data collaboratives and mechanisms. The Partnership facilitates the development of global data principles and protocols for sharing and leveraging privately held data, and it has begun to define a clear action plan for data revolution resource alignment and mobilization as well as for harmonizing data specifications and architectures in an effort to ensure the interoperability of technology platforms for assembling, accessing and using data.
