Reporting year: 2016
Achievement at a glance
To date, WIPO has cooperated with local institutions to establish 443 TISCs in various WIPO member states (see the TISC Directory at http://www.wipo.int/tisc/en/search/). Additionally, in 2015, WIPO organized training events in 40 countries on searching technology in patent and scientific and technical journal databases. WIPO also launched the WIPO-WEF Inventor Assistance Program (IAP) that matches under-resourced inventors and small businesses in developing countries with pro bono patent attorneys and within which TISCs evaluate the invention and the inventor eligibility for the IAP. The IAP was launched in Colombia, Morocco and the Philippines, with plans to further expand the program in 2016.
