Description/achievement of initiative
Sesame Workshop is the world's leading educational media non-profit organization, reaching millions of children and families in over 150 countries worldwide. The organization's mission is to maximize the educational power of media to help all children reach their highest potential. Sesame Workshop's commitment to Every Woman Every Child is the expansion of our health-related work in Latin America, Africa and Asia in 2011-2012.
Implementation methodologies
Over the life of the program, it is estimated that expansion of our work in these three priority regions will: reach millions of additional children and mothers with a particular focus on vulnerable populations in both rural and urban settings; result in measurable changes in knowledge, attitudes and behaviors in target populations related to prevention of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria; build capacity in health education with local partners; lead to social marketing campaigns focused on increased awareness around the critical need for early prevention of NCDs and infectious diseases; result in evidence-based innovations in the use of media and new technologies to promote healthy habits in developing countries targeting women and children; and enable progress and mobilizing media to help meet the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
