The first annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) will be held from 6-7 June 2016 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This inaugural session of the Forum will address the topic "Realizing the potential of science, technology and innovation for all to achieve the sustainable development goals."
The theme of the 2016 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development will be “Ensuring that no one is left behind”, which is also a central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In the lead-up to the 2016 High-Level Political Forum, weekly blogs by representatives of Member States, UN system and major groups and other stakeholders will be featured to present different viewpoints on how we can ensure that no one is left behind in the implementation of the SDGs.
Governmental and non-governmental representatives planning to participate in the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, held under the auspices of ECOSOC from 11 – 20 July, must be accredited to the United Nations in order to register for this meeting. Applications are being accepted for the 2016 UN-DESA Grant on Energy for Sustainable Development, which has the thematic focus “Energy for Sustainable Transport”. The 2016 Grant, which carries an award of US$1 million US dollars to fund capacity building activities, seeks to advance sustainable development by encouraging scientific and technological innovations and fostering leadership initiatives and innovative actions that improve energy for sustainable transport, while addressing economic, social and environmental sustainability.
