Global Wastewater Initiative (GW2I)

The GW2I is a multi-stakeholder platform which is comprised of UN agencies, international organizations, governments, scientists, private sectors, industries and Major groups and stakeholders to provide the foundations (including information, tools and policy mechanisms) for partnerships to initiate comprehensive, effective and sustained programmes addressing wastewater management.

Sustainable Ocean Initiative (SOI)

SOI will provide a global platform to build partnerships and enhance capacity to achieve the Aichi Biodiversity Targets related to marine and coastal biodiversity in a holistic manner. This will contribute to the capacity development of SIDS from national to subnational level, and through thematic and regional cooperation initiatives) to sustainably manage their ocean and coastal biodiversity and benefit from the many environmental, social, and economic services provided by healthy marine ecosystems.

The Sustainable Ocean Initiative (SOI) came into existence in the margins of the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in 2010, with the support of the government of Japan, and in collaboration with various partners that were willing to contribute expertise as well as technical and financial resources.
