LAUNCH OF COMMUNITIES OF OCEAN ACTION, 27-30 November 2017

To follow-up on the implementation of the over 1,400 Ocean Conference Voluntary Commitments; to catalyze and generate new commitments; and to facilitate collaboration and networking among different actors in support of SDG 14, the United Nations will be supporting nine new thematic multi-stakeholder Communities of Ocean Action, to be launched during a series of global webinars on 27-30 November 2017. UNEA Side event:
BUILDING COMMUNITIES OF OCEAN ACTION FOR MARINE POLLUTION

On 6 December 2017 at the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA) in Nairobi, Kenya, a special side event will be organized to build up the Community for Ocean Action on Marine Pollution. “Our Ocean” Conference Malta, 5 – 6 October 2017

|
The European Union organized and hosted the 4th edition of the “Our Ocean Conference” in Malta from 5 – 6 October 2017. The first three conferences were organized by the US Department of State and held in Washington, DC. The 2018 conference will take place in Indonesia. Norway will be the host in 2019, and Palau in 2020.

COP 23 Side event:
OCEAN AND CLIMATE: A RESILIENT OCEAN FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS

The side event will present actions that countries are taking, with the support of the UN system, to address climate related multi-stressors on the ocean through improved scientific capacity to understand ocean change, the development of CO2 mitigation strategies and new innovative adaption approaches. |

LOSS & DAMAGE & the 2030 AGENDA HIGH LEVEL EVENT: “BUILDING STRONG LINKAGES”

Fish Forum 10-14 December 2018, FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy

The Forum on Fisheries 2018, will bring together the wider community of scientists and experts working on fisheries and the marine environment in the Mediterranean and Black Sea in order to build a lasting network, discuss advancements in research, integrate scientific knowledge in support of decision-making and identify research priorities for the coming decade.
