Assessment of renewable energy potentials to countries, sufficiently documented to initiate financing for ground measurement campaigns in strategic locations, plan investments and infrastructures.

Implementation methodologies

Provide an authorative assessment of renewable energy potentials to countries, sufficiently documented to initiate financing for ground measurement campaigns in strategic locations, plan investments and infrastructures. The initiative is carried on under the Clean energy Ministerial Multilateral Solar and Wind working group. Supporting countries are Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Norway, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, United States of America.

A global portal for renewable potentials will be available end 2012.
2013
Tested indicators will be developed for each datasets (solar and wind), future advanced datasets would incorporate an uncertainty estimate.
2014
Through active and wide participation of supporting countries, data on bioenergy, geothermal and hydropower will be added to the atlas.
