About Local2030
Structure, Themes, and Advocacy
To accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level, Local2030 focuses on the following core objectives:
Partners
Current Local2030 partners include UN agencies and related Intergovernmental Organizations, as well as associations of local and regional governments and partners from the private sector, civil society, research, and philanthropic institutions.
UN organizations and affiliates include: Cities Alliance (urban poverty reduction), ECLAC, FAO (food and agriculture), ILO (labour), IOM (migration), ITU (ICT), UNCDF (finance lead for Local2030), UNDP (poverty and development), UNESCO (education and culture), UNEP (environment), UNFCCC (climate change), UNFPA (sexual and reproductive rights), UN Global Compact, UN-Habitat (human settlements and urbanization), UNHCR (refugees), UNICEF (children), UN-NGLS (civil society), UNOP (partnerships), UN Women (gender equity and women’s empowerment), WFP (food security), WHO (health), and World Bank (finance and infrastructure).

The primary local and regional government partner for Local2030 is the Global Task Force of Local and Regional Governments (GTF), which is led by UCLG and includes important Local2030 partners such as C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, ICLEI, and nrg4SD. Other important local and regional governments partners of Local2030 are the R20—Regions of Climate Action, and the Governors’ Climate and Forests (GCF) Task Force.
